DOKITA is a WHO-recognised, peer-reviewed journal of the University of Ibadan Medical Students’ Association. DOKITA is the first medical journal to be produced in independent Nigeria and the first medical students’ journal in West Africa.

For over 50 years we have kept up with our tradition of publishing our annual Dokita Journal, a WHO-recognized peer reviewed medical journal read widely by students and specialists alike.

Who We Are

DOKITA Editorial Board is an organisation comprising bona fide medical students of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan.

DOKITA Editorial Board also organises annual symposia, where topical issues relating to national growth and development are discussed, the Biennial GlaxoSmithKline-Emeritus Professor O. O. Akinkugbe National Inter-medical School Quiz Competition among others.

Our Impact

Since the over 50 years of our existence, DOKITA has reached over 100,000 doctors and medical practitioners within Nigeria and abroad through the dissemination of our annual journal.

We have also impacted over 200,000 university undergraduates and secondary school students through our annual symposia,our inter-medical school quiz, our essay-writing competitions and our numerous periodic trainings and workshops organized year round.
